Valentine’s Dinner at the beachhouse at the moana

Last night Balbino and I celebrated Valentine’s Day at the beachhouse at the moana–my old stomping grounds.

We felt like celebrities as we were escorted to the prized table at the end of the veranda, right near the beach!  Every food item we ordered was delicious and Ricky gave amazing service as usual.

We started off with some taro lavosh and rolls with butter accented by Hawaiian sea salt.  We were also surprised with some very tasty mushrooms and crostini.  Since is was a special occasion, we splurged a little and I ordered the beachhouse tasting menu, while Balbino ordered off the menu.

My first course was a sampler of a baby caesar, shrimp cocktail, and sesame crusted ahi, and he ordered lobster bisque with scallion pistou.

Our appetizers were then followed by foie gras on a toasted French baguette with a blackberry sauce.  That foie gras was rich, but it just melted in my mouth!

Now on to the main course!  My sampler included a plate of Australian lamb chop, NY strip steak, and Maine lobster tail accompanied by asparagus and mashed potatoes.  That was the best lamb I have ever had!

Balbino was being a real “meat and potatoes man” with his Wagyu ribeye and truffle tater tots.  (I stole a couple of his tots.  Hehe)

Our perfect night ended with these decadent desserts.
