Engagement Photo Session Tips
We are sure many of you know that we love engagement sessions! They are really a great way to get to know your wedding photographer, and get you more comfortable in front of the camera. Most of our couples are not models, and have not taken professional photos together, so we don’t expect you to know how to or pose or what to do all on your own. We will be there to guide you, so don’t worry!
We have put together some tips that will help you plan for your engagement shoot:
- Pick a location that speaks to you! This could be where you two met, where you two got engaged, or just an area that looks good to you. We are always open to work with you on a location that fits you as a couple, and that is photographically interesting.
- Have multiple outfits! We highly encourage our couples to bring at least two different outfits, one more casual and one more formal. For example, the more casual outfit might be something you would wear to a graduation or baby’s first birthday party, and the more formal outfit would be attire you would wear as a wedding guest. Different clothing will bring more variety to your photos, and ultimately the artwork you will hang in you home!
- Bring props that show your personalities or hobbies! This is your chance to really make your engagement shoot your own. Save the Date signs and initials are always popular items to bring, but we have also had couples include their pets, or even full Kendo gear!
- Relax and have fun! Remember, your engagement session is the perfect time to enjoy each other’s company and just be together. You will enjoy yourselves, we promise!
