Iris + Sung | 08.18.19 | Heeia State Park

Iris is a fierce and passionate woman who is complimented perfectly by her fun-loving and easy-going, other half Sung. Their playful back-and-forth banter never ceases to crack us up and make us love them more every time we see them! They held their wedding day at the stunning He’eia State Park and kept things zealousy real and true to them.

We took advantage of all the stunning nature around to capture all the pretty details and pieces that would adorn Iris on her special day. Her bouquet was homemade by a friend close to her–who BTW killed it with making her decor beautiful and consistent. She picked a fitted gown covered in lace that hugged her curves and flattered her body beautifully.

Sung went with a navy blue suit that his family members helped him into. They are originally from Korea but moved to New York as a family. Years ago Sung decided to seek a change of scenery in the much slower paced Hawaii and expressed how much he loves it here. However, because of this he doesn’t get to see his family nearly as much making him cherish every moment he had with them on his wedding day. He was clearly beyond stoked about all of it, especially his adorable niece and nephew who he couldn’t help but scoop up and hug over and over.

Their garden ceremony site looked gorgeous with a view of the ocean. Their flower choice paired with the wooden arch + watering cans made for a perfect rustic set up. Iris’ dad escorted her down the aisle to her groom where they’d share a hilarious and absolutely authentic ceremony led by their friend. The fun started when their officiant asked them to join hands and Iris tossed her bouquet right off the side of the ceremony mound for her unsuspecting brother to catch and hold for her. Everyone laughed and enjoyed the sweet words being said. Mid-way Iris paused to say ‘wait–can we switch sides the sun is in my eyes.’ We haven’t heard that one before and couldn’t help but crack up alongside her guests. We felt the same when it was time for them to share their personal vows and she said ‘we’re doing that?!’ Sung responded ‘Yeah! You told me to write something!’ regardless, they shared sweet words to each other–Iris’ portion truly from her heart with nothing prepared.

They were announced Mr. + Mrs. and shared a passion filled kiss before Sung wrapped his arms around his new wife and gave her the most dramatic dip we’ve seen as she laughed hysterically. Only naturally she asked her brother to throw the bouquet back to her as they processed down the aisle.

They totally killed the rustic barn look with the drapery on the beams of their reception along with soft toned florals, eucalyptus, and metal troughs and watering cans. Everything was accented with gold and looked amazing!

They enjoyed an awesome laid back reception that fit them perfectly. Their first dance was adorable in the way that they sung along loudly and laughed together. Iris danced with her daddy next and shed some tears as he smiled and hugged her tightly. After this she changed in to her blush pink party dress to finish her evening in.

We loved working with this awesome couple and wish them all the love and happiness in the world!
