26 May Why Boudoir? Why not?!
Mel and I decided to pursue boudoir photography after hearing Jen Rosenbaum, one of the best boudoir photographers in the industry, speak at WPPI – Wedding Portrait Photographer International. We both found boudoir to be challenging and different from our normal cup of tea – weddings. We admired how boudoir & glamour photography can bring out the beauty in anyone. Hearing how Jen used photography to help tell stories about women overcoming trials in life, whether that had been childbirth, cancer, or divorce, and being able to come out on top stronger than ever was very inspirational. Mel and I knew that the options for boudoir photography in Hawaii were limited at best, and had wanted to be able to make that kind of impact in women’s lives. We wanted to be able to offer women a high-end boudoir experience that would not only provide beautiful photos but also be empowering.
We had so many barriers to overcome. First, we had never done it before! Second- even though Mel and I are married, I’m still a dude! Lol. But this list could go on forever. So we decided to jump head first and book our first clients. It turned out that most of our fears were unfounded! All of our clients loved working with the two of us! Mel often became the stylist and provided touchups, double stick tape – lots of tape, and made sure that everything was in the right place. I did most of the creative directing, posing, and photographing. As a male/female team we also are able to provide feedback from both sides which our clients appreciated very much!
We are so excited to be able to offer a unique boudoir experience to our clients by utilizing our studio, consultation space and partnership with the phenomenal makeup team at FaceArt Beauty!
