21 Dec Brandy + Victor | 11.12.16 | Halekulani
Brandy + Victor were married at the Halekulani in November. They began their day with a Chinese tea ceremony, a tradition that includes very formal introductions to the bride and the groom, as well as showing respect to their families. It is very meaningful to Chinese weddings since tea is the symbol of purity, stability and fertility. During this ceremony the couple met with their elders and received ‘lai-see’, red envelopes filled with money, as well as jewelry that they wore right away as a sign of respect and appreciation for your gift. After this ceremony they got ready for the Americanized portion of their wedding! She put on her detailed white dress and held a bouquet of white flowers with hints of lavender scattered through it. They made their way to their beautiful ceremony at Halekulani where lovely matching flower arrangements and crystal beads awaited for them. They had a beautiful ceremony where her veil flowed behind her. After sharing their first kiss they made their way to a stunning lavender themed reception. There was a lion dance featured at this reception as well! This tradition is believed to chase away evil spirits and brings happiness, longevity, and good luck, since the lion is the symbol of power, wisdom, and good fortune. They enjoyed the rest of their evening thoroughly with their closest family and friends!
